When should I use Nitrile Gloves?
Nitrile gloves are used in many industries, including food processing, manufacturing, construction, and healthcare. They provide protection against chemical splashes, burns, cuts, and punctures.
How nitrile gloves are made.
Nitrile is a synthetic copolymer (made from two or more products combined) made from acrylonitrile (a colourless volatile liquid) and butadiene (colourless gas condensed to a liquid). These are blended and stabilized to make a synthetic elastic material which is then made into Nitrile gloves.
They protect you from harmful chemicals.
Nitrile gloves come in different sizes and shapes, with varying levels of protection. Nitrile has a higher resistance to chemicals, acids and oils than latex and vinyl gloves. They also have a higher puncture resistance keeping the wearer safe.
Why are nitrile gloves available in different colours?
Black nitrile gloves are often used in industrial environments where you don’t want the product you are dealing with to stain the gloves ie grease for Mechanics, die for Hairdressers, blood for Veterinarians.
Blue nitrile gloves are more commonly used in Medical and Food Processing environments. They offer good dexterity for the user and a strong safety barrier.
White nitrile gloves offer the ‘look’ of latex with the strength of nitrile. Nitrile is a good alternative for people with latex allergies.
Orange nitrile gloves are great for safety as they stand out in an industrial environment.
They can help prevent skin problems.
Nitrile gloves help prevent skin irritation by protecting against chemical exposure. They also protect against cuts and scrapes, as well as burns. Nitrile is a non-allergenic option for glove wearers.
Are nitrile gloves biodegradable?
Latex gloves are made from natural rubber so are the better biodegradable option. Nitrile will eventually biodegrade / breakdown, it will just take longer.
